San Diego 6, Arizona State 3

I came into the San Diego/Arizona State matchup expecting to focus on a pair of shortstops in Arizona State's Colby Woodmansee and San Diego's Bryson Brigman; and that's what I did. But what Brigman did in his five at-bats really made scouting quite easy.

He collected three base hits in his five trips to the plate, including a triple, but he hit absolute rockets in all five plate appearances. His swing is very short and direct, with leverage at contact and solid strength, producing hard contact to all fields depending on pitch location. The hands work very well in the swing with a very clean hand path, generating above average bat speed. His power is more gap-to-gap, but there's still some projection remaining on his frame, so it's plausible to believe that there's some over-the-fence power in there left to unlock.
