Perfect Game is pleased to announce the creation of the Perfect Game Baseball Association (PGBA), which will serve as the official governing body for all Perfect Game amateur baseball tournaments.  The PGBA, which covers all ages and competition levels, provides more value to travel teams and players while providing resources to host the highest quality events in all areas of the country.

“The creation of the PGBA has been a very exciting process for Perfect Game,” said Perfect Game Vice President of Tournaments, Taylor McCollough.  “Since 2001, our goal has been to build Championship tournaments that are second to none.  We added metal bat tournaments in 2005 with the BCS Finals, and have developed a strong regional presence since launching the PG Super25 in 2013.”

With the rapid growth of Perfect Game tournaments, McCollough believes that the PGBA’s development will be beneficial to travel baseball teams of all ages and competition levels.

“Working backwards, we now have some of the most elite, largest, and most prestigious Championships in amateur baseball.  We have wood and metal bat tournaments, and a variety of options on the national, regional, and local levels.  What we needed was a way to combine all of these offerings and information in one place for teams and players of all ages.  This is the purpose of the PGBA.”

Among other benefits, Perfect Game believes the PGBA will help enforce higher standards for tournament operators, leading to an increased level of quality for all travel baseball tournaments.

“Perfect Game has established itself as a leader in the travel ball industry,” said PG National Tournament Director, Matthew Bliven.  “We strive to be the best at what we do and hold ourselves to a very high standard.  The PGBA will allow teams, players, and parents to be exposed to what Perfect Game has to offer in their own market. It will prepare them for our major events in Atlanta, Fort Myers and Phoenix if they choose to compete at the highest level.  If not, they are able to be a part of a national program without making the commitment to a National Championship.”

Perfect Game is certain that all players and teams will enjoy the added benefits of the PGBA.  While more information will be released in the coming months, McCollough’s confidence in this new initiative is unwavering.

“We will have the most comprehensive website that serves as a one-stop shop for all teams, players, and parents,” he said. “Nine-year-old players will have the same profiles and options as 18-year-olds and they’ll be able to add to their profile for the next nine years.  When it is time to move on to college or the MLB draft, they will have the most comprehensive profile available.

“We established the PGBA because the amateur side of baseball can and should be held to higher standards. It will add real value to all players and the game of baseball as a whole.”
