2015 Summer Collegiate Top Prospect Index
Coastal Plain League Top Prospect List (30)

It was an exciting summer in the Carolinas and Virginia as the Coastal Plain League saw yet another season of competitive play across both divisions and a dominating team performance.

The Edenton Steamers – who were honored as Perfect Game’s
Summer Collegiate Team of the Year – impressed over the course of the entire season, laying claim to best records in both the first and second halves of the season before closing off their memorable summer with a two-game sweep over the Gastonia Grizzlies in the championship series.

As one would expect given their dominant summer performance, the Steamers cleaned up in the awards, with infielder Chad Sedio (Miami, Ohio), pitcher Zach Prendergast (Seton Hall) and coach Bryan Hill (Chowan) all garnering player, pitcher and coach of the year honors, respectively.

TOP 20 PROSPECTS

1. Garrett Davila, lhp, Gastonia (SIGNED/Royals, 4th round of 2015 MLB Draft)
Davila, a verbal commitment to the University of Tennessee, had a strong spring and was rewarded by being selected by the Kansas City Royals in the fourth round of the draft. Prior to signing, Davila made a cameo in the Coastal Plain League, appearing in two games and throwing 3 2/3 innings. The leanly built 6-foot-2, 180-pound southpaw oozes with projection. He should add some velocity to his present 88-91 mph fastball as he continues to mature and add strength to his frame, and he flashes feel for both a sweeping curveball and fading changeup from his three-quarters arm slot.
