College Baseball Chat (12:00 p.m. CST) | Friday Recap | Saturday Recap

Weather continued to be an issue across the country during the third weekend of play during the 2015 college baseball season, extending its reach to Texas as both Texas Christian and Texas Tech only managed to get one game in each. The Horned Frogs and Red Raiders both will face stiff tests after the week off; TCU hosts Rice mid-week before heading to Southern California to play No. 1 Vanderbilt, No. 4 UCLA and Southern California next weekend as part of the Dodgertown Classic. Texas Tech plays at Cal State Fullerton next weekend.

While the teams ranked among the top six remain intact, there was considerable movement for the teams ranked in the 7-15 range. Texas Tech moves up two spots almost by default after Houston and Texas struggled this past week, while now No. 8 ranked South Carolina only played two of their three games against in-state rival Clemson, with Game 3 of that series scheduled to be played today.

Oregon enjoys a four-spot jump in the rankings after taking two of three against UC Santa Barbara, including one against Friday night ace Dillon Tate. As a result, UCSB falls four spots in the rankings.

Mississippi State and Texas A&M both move up four spots, a reward for remaining perfect this season.

With both Kennesaw State and Georgia moving out of the top 25 rankings, Perfect Game welcomes newcomers Maryland and Florida Atlantic. Maryland has been solid all season, with a well-balanced team that includes a potent offense and an efficient pitching staff. Florida Atlantic has fared admirably against a tough early season schedule, with convincing series sweeps over UConn and Monmouth serving as bookends for taking two of three from Ohio State and a mid-week victory over No. 10 Miami so far this year.

Illinois, Auburn, Notre Dame, Dallas Baptist, Nevada, Missouri, San Diego State and Clemson were all mentioned this week for consideration by members of the PG college baseball staff.
