LSU has completely overhauled their roster since Head Coach Jay Johnson has taken over. The Tigers have dominated both the transfer portal and prep recruiting trail, bringing in the No. 1 recruiting class last year and following it up with yet another top-10 class this year. While the group is not as deep, it is loaded with top-tier talent that should provide a big impact in Baton Rouge. The class consists of 10 total players ranked within the top-200 players in the country, with seven of those ranking within the top-115.

The Tiger coaching staff was not afraid to conduct a wide-spread search for their recruits, as the top-5 recruits all come from different states. Not only did LSU show the ability to tap into the talent from other states, the Tigers went in and grabbed the top-end talent from those states. In fact, the class features the top-ranked player of four different states: Texas, Kansas, Louisiana and New Mexico.

Blake Mitchell is one of those players, ranked the top player in Texas and No. 7 overall in the country. The backstop is considered one of the best prep catching prospects in years, showing both advanced defensive actions and a powerful left-handed swing. There will be strong draft interest in him this spring, but the catcher would be an immediate impact player if he reaches campus.

Mitchell leads a strong group of position players. Outfielder Ashton Larson is a projectable left-handed bat with strong bat-to-ball skills and Steven Milam is a twitchy, switch-hitting middle infielder that can produce on both sides of the ball. Both will be valuable pieces to the Tiger lineup. MJ Seo is an interesting player with two-way ability on the mound and at shortstop. Fellow infielders Austen Roellig and Trenton Lape, as well as outfielder Derrick Mitchell, are also intriguing names headed to Baton Rouge.

Cameron Johnson heads the group of incoming pitchers. The starter for the East squad at the All-American Classic will bring a power fastball that can reach the upper-90s along with a high-spinning slider. He will be joined by fellow left-handers Jake Brown and Kade Anderson, both of whom show advanced pitchability. It is a small group of arms, but the trio of left-handers all rank within the top-110 in the class and should fill quality innings for the Tigers.

The 2023 recruiting class will be yet another group of high-end talent to hit the LSU roster. It is a star-studded group of players with loud tools and extremely high upside. The position player group is one of the best in the country with potential impact players all around the diamond. It is another impressive group for Coach Johnson and company, who are becoming a recruiting powerhouse.
