2-Orange v. 1-Black

10/16/2022

Black #3 – William H Taylor (2024 MIF, Columbus, GA) earned the start on the mound for Black and was impressive right out of the gate. Taylor was able to fill the zone with his three-pitch mix featuring a fastball, high of 77-mph with arm-side-run. Created a lot of swing and miss working ahead with his fastball then devastating hitters with his off-speed mix, consisting of a curveball with depth and shape and a change-up with sell and developing feel.

Black #16 – Jordan Taylor (2024 OF, Suwanee, GA) is a hard throwing southpaw who entered the game in a relief appearance. Showcased a full windup with rhythm and timing to his release, and an arm action that was long and smooth with a low-3/4 release. A good athlete, Taylor worked down the mound well, leading to a lot of strikes in the lower half of the zone. Taylor’s fastball was his bread-and-butter working up to 72-mph. Adding to his effectiveness, Taylor integrated his curveball into advantage counts late for multiple strikeouts.

Orange #7 – Branson Dykes (2024 SS, Statham, GA) answered the call for a relief appearance and featured simple, stretch-only mechanics, helping him fill the zone with his mix. Fastball was a good one up to 77-mph with life through the zone. Complemented his fastball with a curveball that took 11/5 break with depth and dive through the zone in the high 60’s. Produced swing-and-miss throughout, as well as weak contact his defense was able to handle for outs. Branson would also add hard contact to his stat line at the plate, with a loud, barreled single late to the pull side.

Black #12 –Nathan Murray (2023 1B, Newnan, GA) displayed his hit-ability on a double down the line to the pull side. Advanced feel for the game is evident as he plays the game hard and hustles in all phases. On the double, Murray made the defense rush, coasting in for two before the throw.

Black #4 – Jon Crosby (2023 OF, Evans, GA) was able to get the hands out and drive a fastball to the wall in the pull side gap for a double. Twitch and hand-eye already play in game situation. The 6-foot outfielder looks the part, moves well in all phases, and plays the game the right way, thinking two out of the box on the loud knock. Speed plays in all phases, which makes Crosby one to monitor on the bases, making things increasingly difficult for the defense, specifically the battery.

Orange #1 – Storey Abernathy (2023 OF, Atlanta, GA) turned in a multi-hit game. Both results were hard hit, barreled contact to the pull side. Abernathy stayed short in the box, showcased a direct swing-path, and plenty of twitch in the box giving him the ability to adjust to off-speed in all counts. Storey appears confident at the plate with balance. A good athlete, Storey moved well on the bases as he was able to swipe a couple bases in the contest. Speed translated to the outfield with first step quickness and agility to either side which he paired with feel for the leather helping him make all plays hit his way.

Orange #8 – Oscar Eanes (2025 1B, Hollis, NY) was able to stay connected in the box late in the game and drive a double high off the wall to the pull side. Leverage creation and torque with the lower half, shot his barrel through the zone with bat speed evident. Strength in present build, projects well moving forward as Eanes looks the part in the right-handed box. Corner infielder, Eanes has clean actions with the glove, and plenty of arm strength to project to third long term.

1-Black vs. 2-Orange

10/15/2022

Charlie Hendrix (2024 RHP, Tucker, GA) looked very solid in his outing. Fastball got up to 81 mph, sitting 76-78 mph, with a loose, long arm action and feel to spin a big, downer-shaped breaking ball.

Kyle Crisp (2024 C, Marietta, GA) hit a missile into the right center gap for a double in his first at-bat. He had a good round of batting practice and just continues it into the game.

William H Taylor (2024 MIF, Columbus, GA) just kept one inside the left field line for a double. Compact, short swing with twitch in the hands. Has some projectability left in the frame.

Jon Crosby (2023 OF, Evans, GA) hammered one into the right center gap for a stand up double. Got a fastball on the outside corner and didn't miss it. Sound approach with obvious bat speed and barrel awareness.

Eli Koch (2025 LHP, Sevierville, TN) had a base hit through the right side for a single. Koch had a good round of batting practice and continued it during the game. He as loose hands that generate some barrel whip through the zone.

Ty Koch (2023 MIF, Sevierville, TN) had a loud double in the top of the third inning. He got the barrel on plane early and drove it off the base of the wall. Impressive swing that generates tons of bat speed and pull-side power.

Asa (AJ) Lingerfelt (2025 3B, Oxford, GA) worked a good at-bat to lead off the fourth inning. After seeing a lot of pitches, he stayed on one and lined a single right back up the middle. Short, compact swing with good barrel control.

Michael Fredette (2025 RHP, Kennesaw, GA) looked dominant in his relief appearance. Fastball sat in the low-80s with two distinct breaking balls mixed in. True arm talent that has been impressive early on.

Brett Cassan (2024 3B, West Columbia, SC) had a loud hit into left field in the middle innings. Short swing with easy loft to the pull side. Really sound swing that produces some loud contact. Also had a double in the later innings of the game into left-center. Very impressive performance. 6

Logan Wells (2026 LHP, St Johns, FL) is a very projectable lefty on the mound. Fastball sitting in the upper-70s with feel to spin a 1-7 shaped curveball both for strikes and for whiffs. Long, loose arm action with tons of room for growth in the frame.

Oliver Swartz (2026 LHP, Apex, NC) has been mixing speeds very well throughout his outing. Fastball in the mid-70s and can turn over a solid changeup. Has also thrown a curveball with 1-7 shape that he can land for a strike.

Devier Ramos (2025 C, Madison, AL) burned the left fielder for a loud double that hit off the base of the wall. Short barrel path to the baseball with obvious pull side pop.

Preston Bonn (2024 C, Lawrenceville, GA) has collected a few base hits in today's action. He's 2-2 so far with two singles. On the defensive side, he has athletic actions behind the dish and a very good arm.

Manny Ramos (2024 3B, Apollo Beach, FL) had a loud single in the last inning. Short swing with impressive feel for the barrel that was on display throughout the game.
