Sterling Haynes is a 2025 SS/2B with a 5-10 150 lb. frame from Asheville, NC who attends Carolina Day. Medium, athletic build with some lean muscle present throughout his frame with more strength remaining to be added. 7.81-second runner during the sixty. Primary middle infielder, athletic actions with some quick twitch and clean glove actions. Moved well laterally to his left and right. Accurate across the diamond, up to 73 mph, arm strength will continue to improve as he adds more muscle and fills out. Took defensive reps in the outfield as well, again showcasing his athleticism. Fielded off to the side, playing through the ball well, compact arm stroke with accurate throws to the bases, up to 75 mph. Has the actions to project long term in the infield but good to know he has the versatility to play anywhere on the diamond. Threw an inning on the mound. Worked efficiently and missed barrels. Quick paced, full wind up, that he repeats well. High 3/4 slot, with looseness in his arm action. Sat in the 72-75 mph range with his fastball, filling up the zone as he worked both sides of the plate well. Flashed some feel for his breaking ball just lacking consistency. Right-handed hitter, upright, slightly open stance with a high-hand set and a high back elbow. Busy hands as he gathering, utilizing a leg-lift-trigger too engage his lower half. Compact stroke flashing some lift through the zone, displayed the ability to really impact the ball to the pull side. Got the barrel out to the point of contact consistently.
