John Hollis Hutchinson is a 2022 RHP/C with a 6-0 196 lb. frame from Canton, MS who attends Canton Academy. Medium to large build with room to still strengthen as he continues to develop. Primary pitcher, has a longer arm action from a three-quarters slot. Quick arm stroke despite the length, side step rock into his leg lift in the windup. Good extension down the hill, fastball up to 77 mph. Works to both sides of the plate with intent. 11-to-5 shaped curveball with good depth. Developing vertical bite down in the zone. Behind the dish, sets up in a conventional crouch, makes accurate throws to all bags. Posted a 2.21 second pop time down to second base in the catching workouts. At the plate, uses an upright and open stance with a stride trigger. Flat barrel plane through the zone, middle of the field approach. Excellent student in the classroom as well.
