Cole Nelson is a 2021 RHP/MIF with a 6-0 170 lb. frame from Belmond, IA who attends Belmond-Klemme Community. Medium frame with slender, projectable build; ran 60 yard dash in 8.19 seconds. Primary pitcher, drops and drives downhill into open-toe land, falls off to glove side, longer arm stroke to high 3/4 slot, fastball worked 72-76 mp with flashes of arm side life, showed a curveball with gradual break, threw strikes. Hits from even-based stance, gets onto front side and creates steep entry path, has solid raw bat speed. Worked out in the infield, active feet, rounds it okay, solid hands out front, good accuracy on throws, clocked up to 74 mph. Good student.
