Tag Weder is a 2021 SS/RHP with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Calgary, AB who attends Cochrane. Large, athletic frame with square shoulders and a high waist, present strength proportioned throughout frame. Ran a 7.34 60-yard dash. Primary shortstop, gets low moving towards and through the ball, fields the ball out front and shows a quick transfer, gets on top of throws well and shows balance to actions, longer strides moving towards the ball, extra step through release, shows carry on throws across the diamond. Takes short steps moving towards the ball in the outfield, fields out front and throws from a compact arm action, taller at release, shows nice accuracy on throws from a higher release point. Also pitched, simple delivery with a leg lift up to belt, similar compact arm action with a three-quarters release point and extension out front. Fastball topped out at 76 mph, some inconsistency with release point but plane to it when on top and working down; flashed a short 11-5 shaped curveball up to 69 mph. Righthanded hitter, begins with a tall, narrow and open stance with a high hand set and back elbow at the plate. Limited shift through lower half, shorter path and stays inside the baseball. Full finish through the ball and looks to elevate at point of contact with lift out front, gets uphill at times, shows nice carry to pull side when squared. Very good student.
