Derek Ferguson is a 2020 SS/RHP with a 5-11 165 lb. frame from York, PA who attends Central York. Medium build with square shoulders and room to fill with time to do so. Ran a 5.26 second 40 yard dash. Primary shortstop, sits back on ball with long strides up the middle, developing hands, low effort throws from low 3/4 arm angle, full arm action, upright release, developing arm strength with some accuracy to the bag. Also pitched, deliberate delivery, side step to a high leg lift, full arm action up to a high 3/4 slot, throws easy without much effort put in at release, fastball flashes life but is mostly straight, mixed in a straight changeup and 11-to-5 shaped curveball. Righthanded hitter, leg lift trigger, compact stroke to the ball and through contact, good weight shift from lower half driving hips well into contact, gets barrel to ball well. Excellent student.
