Zach Pietrzyk is a 2007 RHP/OF from Bloomingdale HS in Valrico, FL, with a 6'1'', 185 lb. frame. His body looks like its still growing and getting strong. Pietrzyk throws with simple, repeatable pitching mechanics and a standard 3/4's release point and gets good lower half drive to the plate. His fastball topped out at 85 mph with good running action. Pietrzyk threw a couple of cut fastballs, whether on purpose or by design is hard to tell, but they showed that he might have the potential to develop a nice slider in the future. Pietrzyk's curveball was a good pitch at 70 mph and he used it often and effectively. Pietrzyk's change up was a nice pitch at 69 mph and had nice running and sinking action like his fastball. He mixed up his pitches well and had confidence in his off speed pitches, which made his fastball sneaky quick for the hitters. Pietrzyk has all the tools to be a successful pitcher at the next level. He also showed some prospect potential as a left handed hitting outfielder. Pietrzyk's arm strength translated well to the field, where he threw 83 mph during outfield drills. He hits from a no load, no stride approach with his weight back and his front side open. Pietrzyk is looking to pull the ball and he takes an aggressive cut with good bat speed and some loft in his swing. He should hit his share of home runs at the high school level. Pietrzyk is a good student off the field as well. Very good follow!
