Diego Emerling is a 2024 SS/RHP with a 6-3 180 lb. frame from Martinez, CA who attends Alhambra. Long and lean athletic build with some present strength and room for plenty more. Right handed hitter, pull approach at the plate, has strength in his swing with good bat speed, ball has good jump off the barrel, very projectable, chance to have plus power as he fills in and gets stronger. 7.76 runner in the sixty. Soft hands in the field on defense, good feel for his glove position, solid fundamental footwork, puts himself in position to make plays, big arm strength for a 2024, can see him moving to third base as he gets stronger but he'll be very good there. Also pitched, fast paced delivery with a big back turn over the rubber, rotational mechanics that are hard to time consistently. Fastball topped out at 85 mph, had big run and sink on his fastball at times, also threw a curveball and firm change up. Good student. Named to the Sunshine West Showcase Top Prospect List.
