2023 Top Prospects

Sam Harris  1B - 2023 - Urbandale, IA
Duke

Harris made his power known in a big way in this one, smashing a no-doubt homerun in the game and recording a record-breaking 107 mph exit velocity off the tee. As if the 6-foot-5, 220-pound frame wasn't intriguing enough, left-handed hitting first baseman put on a show during BP/live at-bats and certainly made a name for himself in front of double-digit MLB scouts. He is athletic and moves very well for his size, as he ran a 6.84 second sixty and threw 91 mph from first base.

Brayden Olson  RHP - 2023 - Saint Croix Falls, WI
Purdue

Olson showed tons of confidence in his four pitch mix, challenging hitters and throwing strikes in any count. He works ahead with the heater and pairs it nicely with changeup that has nice depth thanks to his ability to kill the spin on the offering. He also has a curveball with big shape and a slider that is firm with tight break. He can throw both breaking pitches in the zone for strikes looking or drop them out of the zone for swings and misses.

Eli Nissen  LHP - 2023 - Minot, ND
Creighton

Nissen has always known how to pitch at a high level, and the added velocity has really elevated his status as a draft prospect. His secondaries and overall pitchability are off the charts, and his fastball has seen a steep rise since our last look at him. He now comfortably sits at 90 mph from the left side, and his command is still ever present.

Ethan Hindle  SS - 2023 - Delafield, WI
Kentucky

Hindle showed off his explosiveness by running a 6.77 sixty yard dash to start the day. His explosiveness also plays at the plate where he has fast hands through the zone and fires his lower half with intent. He is able to drive the ball to all parts of the field. He let the ball travel deep in the game and launched a triple over the right fielder's head. He also has the body control to easily make plays while on the move on the infield.

Gunnar Heuchert  SS - 2023 - Grand Forks, ND
Minnesota

Heuchert made quite the impression at his first PG Showcase, showing smooth and athletic actions at shortstop from a strong and physical 6-foot-1 frame. What stood out the most, however, was his power from the right side of the plate. The North Dakota native took one of the more impressive BPs of the day, showing a heavy barrel and sending multiple balls over the fence.

Rowan Donels  RHP - 2023 - Cedar Rapids, IA
Iowa

Donels stands at a long and lanky 6-foot-5, 204-pounds, and there is plenty of projection to dream upon in the frame. The arm is loose and whippy, and he has recently lowered his slot, which leads to more run on the fastball. He sat 88-91 mph with ease and was not afraid to challenge with the heater.

Jarron Thompson  RHP - 2023 - Aurora, IL
Seminole State College

Thompson is an athletic prospect with a long and wiry 6-foot frame. There is plenty of arm speed and his arm comes through loose and clean. He features a solid two pitch mix, with a 91 mph fastball (2335 RPMs) and a sharp slider at 77 mph.

Ryan Drumm  OF - 2023 - Madison, WI
Butler

Drumm put up some impressive numbers in this one that really stood out. The primary outfielder has plenty of speed to cover ground, as he recorded a 6.52 second sixty-yard dash time. And with a 90 mph arm, runners should think twice before trying to take the extra base on him. There is plenty of twitch and athleticism to his game, and his upside is sky high.

Ryan Geraghty  RHP - 2023 - Mundelein, IL
Wichita State

Geraghty looked good in a bullpen setting, where he ran the fastball up to 91 mph (2320 RPMs). He has an athletic delivery with a loose and whippy arm, and we know from past looks that there is plenty more velo in the tank. His calling card will be his violent, frisbee-like slider, which comes in at over 2800 RPMs.

Tommy Lapour  RHP - 2023 - Blue Springs, MO
Wichita State

Lapour was another power arm who displayed high upside in a bullpen setting. The right-hander has a strong and physical 6-foot-4, 230-pound frame, and he has a polished delivery, keeping everything compact and in line. He ran the fastball up to 91 mph, and much like Geraghty, there is more velo to come.

2024 Top Prospects

Drew Rerick  RHP - 2024 - Fargo, ND
Texas A&M

Rerick dominated on the mound for his two innings. He sat 91-92 mph with his fastball and has the ability to locate it on the black to both sides of the plate. He went after hitters early and often, working ahead in the count and putting them away with a hammer curveball that generated swings and misses and locked opposing hitters up for back door strikes. He also flashed a changeup that had slight fade and depth.

Drew Rogers  C - 2024 - Tempe, AZ
Georgia Tech

Rogers showed incredible strength at the plate, launching several tape measure home runs during batting practice, including the furthest hit ball of the day. He has a frame that projects for future success and showed consistently fast actions behind the plate while delivering accurate strikes to second with a 1.88 second pop time.

Myles Davis  SS - 2024 - Marion, IA
Iowa

Davis stood out in all aspects of this event, showing clean actions and smooth footwork at short stop with the arm strength to make any throw. At the plate he has a gap-to-gap approach with the ability to impact the baseball deep into the gaps. He put this on display by hammering a ball deep over the center fielder's head for a stand up double.

Karson Grout  3B - 2024 - Wellman, IA
Iowa

Grout impressed during his BP round, where he sent multiple balls well over the right-field fence. The left-handed hitter has immense strength and bat speed, and he put it on full display in this one. He also recorded a 93 mph exit velocity.
