Batting Practice Highlights: Great Lakes 14u All-State Games
Kaleb Gossett (2029, Yorkville, Ill.) swung it well during BP with an aggressive move through it, showing good bat speed to impact and drive the ball out in front. He worked back up the middle and produced some loud impacts during his round of BP swings with a projectable operation in the box.
Bennet Hilbert (2029, Wilmette, Ill.) swung it well from the right side during BP, with his best results coming when working back up the middle, living in the left center gap. He had some strength off it with projectable barrel accuracy and bat-to-ball skills on display.
Kalin Miedema (2030, Caledonia, Mich.) showed projection in the box during his round of BP, with a quality operation from both sides of the plate as a switch-hit bat. He was able to work the middle of the field and show feel for the barrel, with projectable bat-to-ball skills showing.
Jacob Kaspar (2029, Chicago, Ill.) swung it from the left side, with a clean swing and feel to impact the ball working pull-side and back up the middle, showing during his round of BP swings. He had a clean move into contact and was able to get on the barrel a few times during his round and flash a clean and projectable swing.
Mason Koth (2029, Algonquin, Ill.) swung it well from the right side, showing good feel to impact with strength off the barrel. He had an easy stroke, with some looseness and barrel whip that allowed him to work back up the middle and into the gaps during his round of BP swings — producing loud results overall.
Max Skrtich (2029, Morris, Ill.) had some strength showing at the plate, with a simple leg lift trigger and move into it. He had strength off the barrel and drove the ball well out in front. He showed a feel to lift and leverage, impacting it well up the middle and to the gap during his round of BP swings.
Jonathan Zaragoza (2029, New Lenox, Ill.) handled the bat well, swinging it from the left side, with a feel to throw the barrel head and impact the ball out in front. He had projectable bat-to-ball skills on display during his round of BP swings and lifted a couple, too.
Maddux Carson (2029, Geneva, Ill.) lived in the gaps during his round of BP, showing a feel to work on the barrel and drive the ball back up the middle between the gaps, with strength at contact. He flashed a projectable operation during his round and was able to really show the bat-to-ball skills.
Grant Liebing (2029, Lemont, Ill.) was able to impact the ball with a loose and extended stroke on display during his round of BP swings. He worked back up the middle, impacting out in front with good barrel accuracy to put together some loud results and hard-hit balls overall.
Israel Atkins (2029, Pingree Grove, Ill.) had a clean right-handed stroke on display during his round of BP swings, and he was able to show a shorter stroke with some extension through it. He lifted the ball a bit and produced some hard-hit balls in the air and worked with line drives up the middle and into the pull-side gap.
Leo Demetriou (2029, Chicago, Ill.) put together one of the better rounds of BP, showing easy feel to work pull-side in the air, producing a bunch of barrels. He had projection in the box and worked through contact with good bat speed and feel to impact the ball well and do damage.
Quinn White (2029, Laporte, Ind.) swung it well from the left side, with an aggressive move working into it. He showed some strength off it, with feel to work pull-side and produce loud results. He had bat speed and barrel accuracy that allowed him to impact it and do damage.
Easton Lane (2029, Beecher, Ill.) handled the bat well during his round of BP swings, driving the ball hard in the air, lifting it pull-side,and producing well-struck contact throughout. He was able to throw the barrel head well, with good barrel accuracy and projectable actions in the batter’s box overall.
