James Vecchio is a 2029 LHP/1B with a 5-9 163 lb. frame from Chagrin Falls, OH who attends Gilmour Academy. Medium young build athletic with some present strength to continue to develop, broad shoulders. Works from an abbreviated windup from the first base side of the rubber, quick leg raise to the best with a deep arm path in back, slinging low 3/4's arm slot. Fastball was in the low 80's and topped out at 84 mph with good running life, velocity plays up with deception and arm slot. Threw a soft sweeping curveball and a firm change up to keep hitters off balance and sequenced well while filling up the zone. 8.10 runner in the sixty. Secondary first baseman on defense, has good glove actions and solid arm strength, played with good energy and athleticism. Left handed hitter, sets up in a medium base with a small leg raise timer, swings hard and creates bat speed, flashed gap power with nice carry for his age, has potential with the bat. Good student. Named to the Great Lakes Indoor Showcase Top Prospect List.
