Perfect Game Des Moines Organizational Championship

2025 Perfect Game Des Moines Organizational Championship

Urbandale, IA

April 12th and 13th, 2025

The Perfect Game Des Moines Organizational Championship started off cold and windy but finished near 80 degrees on Sunday, perfect weather for some Perfect Game Softball. The 18u division championship came down to a talented Linn Mar team taking down a dominating Nebraska Gold 319 team. Homeruns were flying! Nebraska Gold 319 boasted 17 homeruns on the weekend, and 7 athletes landing in the Top 10 Batting Performers list. In the 16u division we had an ALL-Aries championship with a very talented 14u Aries squad overcoming the 16u Aries squad. Both were exciting teams to watch and will be forces to reckon with as they continue to grow in the game.

18U

Lily Knutson (2026 Cedar Rapids, IA) a RHP for the Nebraska Gold 319 Berning was the weekend’s Most Valuable Player AND Most Valuable Pitcher, finishing as the event’s top performer in both hitting and pitching. The Augustana commit boasts a 6-pitch mix that makes her absolutely dominating in the circle. Knutson’s late breaking curve and rise are her go to strikeout pitches, then pair up the ability to spot her fastball anywhere she wants, helped her finish the weekend with 28 strikeouts in 12 innings pitched with only one walk. To go along with her pitching dominance, Knutson was a force at the plate as well hitting a tournament high five home runs and 16 RBIs. Knutson is an all-around solid player.

Charlotte Nigey (2026 Bettendorf, IA) another impressive player from the Nebraska Gold 319 Berning squad, had a great weekend at the plate. The utility player demonstrated plus range and a plus arm from the outfield. The most impressive part of Nigey’s game was at the plate. Starting with a simple parallel plate approach, Nigey slightly loads before coming forward, once her weight is transferred, Nigey is not cheated in her at bat and uses her lower half and quick hands to get through the ball. She finished her weekend with seven hits, which included a double and four home runs. The uncommitted Nigey is the real deal.

Emily Koranda (2025 Marion, IA) of Linn-Mar and Missouri State Softball commit had another impressive weekend. Koranda, working with a fastball, changeup, rise, drop and curve, has incredible movement on all of her pitches. Her fastball topped out at 64mph, but its her curve and rise that do the most damage. Koranda finished the weekend with 20 strikeouts through 12 innings pitched while only walking one batter. At the plate, Koranda ended her weekend with seven hits, including three doubles and two homeruns. Koranda is poised to have an exceptional senior season at Linn-Mar.

Brynna Gander (2028 Marion, IA), a left-handed pitcher for Linn-Mar, showed a glimpse into the future for this team and is already turning heads. Gander starts with a slight rock back before exploding off the mound. Ganders’ ability to mix in pitches, a fast ball that sits in the upper 50s and the ability to work all corners of the zone, all help her be the most effective. She finished the weekend with seven innings pitched, which included 16 strikeouts and only allowing one earned run. Just a 2028, this pitcher has a high ceiling and will be one to keep track of.

Clara Page (2027 Des Moines, IA) a right-handed pitcher from the Alliance Select- Benge is an upcoming pitcher whose name you will keep hearing over the next several years. Page has a simple delivery, with a slight rock back before coming through, using her legs and leaping off the mound. Working with a change up, drop, rise and fastball, Page worked efficiently through 10 innings pitched with 14 strikeouts, allowing only one walk and no earned runs. Page’s ability to work all corners of the zone while keeping batters off balance is what makes her most successful.

Jersey Hawf (2025 Larchwood, IA) a right-handed pitcher/utility player for the Sioux City Futures was clutch for her team this weekend. The recent Iowa Central Community College commit starts off parallel with the plate using a simple, line drive approach. Using her quick hands and lower half, Hawf ended the weekend with six hits, including two doubles, two home runs and seven RBI’s.

Kyla Schulte (2026 Amana, IA), a right-handed hitter for Nebraska Gold 319 Berning, had herself a day. Only playing one day of the tournament, this player still managed to be in the top three on the batting performers list. Schulte sets up in a parallel stance, leans into the back hip to transfer weight and then gains separation and momentum with a short stride. Schulte finished with seven hits, including two doubles, three home runs and 11 RBIs. Not yet committed, Schulte has a high-level skill set at the plate that can play at the next level.

16U

Harper Rosado (2029 Ankeny, IA) of the Iowa Aries 14U was the weekend’s Most Valuable Player. Using a simple plate approach with very minimal movement, this left-handed hitter has pure raw power.  Rosado led the division with nine RBIs and finished the weekend with eight hits, including a triple, a home run. Just a 2029, Rosado will only continue to get better as she gains strength and experience in the game. High ceiling for this athlete!

Allie Williams (2028 Norwalk, IA) of the Iowa Aries 16U was the Most Valuable Pitcher of the weekend. Williams’ intensity and excitement on the mound are fun to watch. With a fast ball consistently in the upper 50s, Williams best pitch is her curveball. Williams finished the weekend striking out 12 batters through 10 innings pitched while only allowing one earned run. As Williams continues to gain strength and more velocity on her pitches, she will only get better.

Aurora Widlund (2029 Altoona, IA) of the Iowa Aries 14u pitched her team to the championship game. Widlund is working with a five-bag mix of fastball, change, drop, rise and curve. Her most effective pitch is her curve ball. Widlund had 12 strikeouts through 12 innings pitched, only allowing two earned runs. Widlund is just beginning to come into her game and will be one to watch as she continues to grow and mature.

Kennedy Malloy (2028 Des Moines, IA) also of the 14U Iowa Aries, pitched her team to a championship win and found herself near the top of the batting performers list for the second weekend in a row. Malloy is very relaxed but confident at the plate. Starting parallel with the plate, she starts with her hands high before coming into her stride and takes a slight step to transfer power. She doesn’t try to do too much and lets her athleticism and power do the talking. Malloy ended her weekend with eight hits, including two doubles and five RBIs. As Malloy gains strength and continues to mature, she will only add more hitting power and continue to gain speed on her pitches.

Ainsley Johnson (2028 Marion, IA) of the Cedar Rapids Reds had a successful weekend at the plate with a tournament high nine hits. Starting in a wide stance, Johnson uses her weight transfer to help power through the pitch.  Utilizing her quick hands and aggressive swing, the lefty hitter does not get cheated in at bats. Johnson’s speed and aggressiveness on the bases also help make her successful. will be one to watch in the coming years as she continues to gain strength and experience.

Avery Watson (2027 Osceola, IA), a right-handed power hitter for the SDM JTs helped her team to a 3rd place finish this weekend. Watson finished the weekend with five hits including a triple and a homerun while knocking in five runs.

Addison Mease (2028 Urbandale, IA), a catcher for the Midwest Inferno, made a big impact for her team over the weekend. Mease batting in the cleanup spot, has a slightly closed stance and utilizes a small step to transfer power. Mease’s power was put on display during her team’s win in going 3 for 4 against a tough Cedar Rapids Reds team and ended the weekend with a total of seven hits including a triple, and three RBIs. Keep an eye on this 2028, she has the potential to be a break out star.

Bailey Parton (2029 Bondurant, IA) a power hitting left-handed batter and first baseman for the Iowa Aries 14u is one to not sleep on. The lefty has extreme pull side power and speed to go with it. Ending the weekend with eight hits, including a stand-up triple, this 2029 is one to keep your eyes on.

Alliance Select Harper’s Braelyn Irlmeier (2029 Norwalk, IA) had an outstanding weekend at the plate. Irlmeier does a great job of getting her hands through the zone and utilizing her lower half to power through the ball. The right-handed leadoff hitter led her team in hits with eight hits, including a double and a triple. Only a 2029, this player has the potential to be great.

Emma Banks (2028 Martensdale, IA) another hard hitting power hitter for the SDM JT’s was also a force at the plate. Banks utilizes a slight rock back to transfer power. Once transferred, Banks looks for an inside pitch to show off her pull side power. Banks’ finished the weekend with five hits, including two doubles, one home run and five RBIs.

BURLINGTON, IA - 2025 Perfect Game Softball Toys 4 Tots Fundraiser One Day, December 7, 2025. Kicking off the holiday season, six teams participated in this one day, 3 game guarantee tournament in the 18u Division. We would like to thank those that donated a toy, and know that they will be distributed to area underprivileged children through a local charity organization. Following are some of the top performers from the weekend. Earning Tournament MV-Pitcher was Jolee Strohmeyer (2026 Dubuque, IA), a RHP/UTIL with tournament champion Lady Expos Blue. Strohmeyer shows hitters a consistent and repeatable motion and delivery with good use of the legs in the drive phase, and a quick and aggressive arm whip. Working with a six pitch mix of fastball, change-up, rise, drop, curve and screw, Strohmeyer topped out at 60 mph, and showed good movement  as she worked her rise and curve just out...

MVPitcher: Duncan McLeod The uncommitted junior toed the slab in three of the four games for Team Mick, tossing 3 2/3 innings.  Zero walks, zero hits and 6 punchouts for the lefty who was used both as a starter in the series clinching game 4 and he closed out game 3 on Friday in quick fashion.  McLeod was very efficient as well, needing just 42 pitches over all his outings.  In the game 4 start, over two innings he punched out 3, with one strikeout with all of his offerings.  The mid 80’s fastball regularly played up, set up with efficient use of the secondaries, with the breaking ball 73/74 and fading change-up 72-74.   Owen Bone (2026) at it again... Solo shot in the 5th to tie things up. Back to back days with a home run for Bone. #PGHS pic.twitter.com/2JC9qETI5h — Perfect Game California (@California_PG) December 13, 2025 MV Hitter: ...

13u Tourney All-American Team

What a year it was in 2025 on the national landscape at the 13u level as Perfect Game continues to expand its reach around the country, providing an even bigger schedule of events coast-to-coast which has allowed players all over show out and gain their deserved recognition. Whether in Texas for the Houston 1000 or the 13u WWBA in West Palm Beach, we saw huge, eye opening performances from the players placed below, knowing that we could EASILY build a third team and likely a fourth without much effort.  As we do every year with this exercise, it's worth pointing out the trickiness of this age group and putting the teams together with the 13u group. While the players are all members of the Class of 2030, some are younger for the grade, which allowed them to play at the 12u level where's it's a smaller field, shorter mound distance and different bats, so we'll separate them out and...

Player of the Year: Asher Williams It was an incredible year for Williams that was rewarded with a trip to the 14U Select Fest, before some more impressive play in the fall. He came to the plate almost 250 times in PG tournaments throughout 2025 and reached base in well over half of them, hitting to a .500 AVG while slugging a 14U circuit best 12 bombs and driving in 113 runs. The numbers on the surface are ridiculous, but when you look at the high-level events he put them up in, it makes it even more impressive. Pitcher of the Year: Tristan Blalock Blalock earns this honor after a dominant 2025 where he struck out 85 batters in just 48.2 innings of work with a minuscule 1.58 ERA. This included several strong performances at many national level tournaments and showcases where he was able to bully some of the best hitters in the country. It’s hard not to fall in love with...

PG Draft: Gut Feel Guys

Tyler Henninger
Article Image
While we are nearing the turn of the calendar to the 2026 year, that means we are just inching closer to the beginning of the season for many high school players and college baseball is on the horizon. We are prepping for a reshuffle of the 2026 MLB Draft Board as well here amongst the PG Draft staff. But before we get to that, we sat down and have each picked a couple of players who are in the mix to get selected in a couple of different buckets.  We have prospects who could go into the Top 30 picks or so, prospects who could be selected in the Top 5 rounds, and prospects who could go inside of the Top 10 rounds. With the draft quite far down the road and a lot of re-shuffling to be done as these players play themselves into certain spots on the draft board, our scouts picked some players who fit into these “buckets” who are gut-feel guys. These are the guys that our PG...

Hitter of the Year: Landon Bonner The 2028 class saw many players from across the country take the next step in their development as they entered the High School ranks. There were huge performances from highly ranked players on the PG circuit as well as some under-the-radar guys who burst onto the scene. Landon Bonner came into Sophomore National as a Top 500 ranked player and after an impressive showing, left with all eyes on him as a rankings riser in the class. The left-handed hitting shortstop from The Colony, Texas, had a summer to remember with All-Tournament Team selections in three of his next four events culminating with a historic performance at the 2025 PG 15U WWBA National Championship. The Hebron High School prep went 20-for-24 in nine games for 5 Star Mafia 15U Black with four homeruns and 12 runs batted in. He also scored 17 runs and finished with a mind-boggling 2.500...

Hitter of the Year: Koa Romero is the Hitter of the Year for the 16u group, as he would come to every premier event of the summer and earn All-Tournament honors (Beast of the East, 16/17u WWBA, Jupiter) in every single one. Over 82 plate appearances, Romero would pump ten homeruns with forty two RBI and sixteen walks, good for a .378 average and 1.339 OPS. The performance on volume at the best events of the year pushed Romero over the edge here, as he’d hit a pair of homeruns in Jupiter (one of them at 112 EV) as an underclassmen and collect double digit hits in BOTH WWBA events with a combined six jacks over the two tournaments. It was a summer that combined performance and winning on the biggest stages for Romero. It’s a quiet left-handed swing that packs a punch. He would reap the benefits of his performances, earning a commitment to LSU and jumping to the #74 prospect in...

They dip into Mississippi to land one of the premier arms and one that’s stood out on the circuit for quite some time. It’s a fast arm and the athleticism certainly shines working down the slope. The velocity has continued to tick up over the last calendar year and reached into the low-90s towards the end of the summer. He’s confident in his changeup and the breaking ball is...

There’s a lot of talent throughout this 2026 class, filled with the big-name stars, to talent that spreads across the nation. It’s been a lot of fun seeing these prospects grow and develop over the years, from the days of watching some of these guys at the 13/14u days at events on the circuit, to now where they are all graduating seniors in 2026. There’s been new faces who have popped along the way over the years, even in 2026, where some players who were relatively undiscovered, have come out and made a name for themselves with a statement performance. Between the familiar and the new, there’s a lot of names on this list that are going to be quite regularly talked about on the circuit, and for good reason.  Whether it’s PG All-Americans or not, there’s a lot of names with superstar potential at the next level. We’ve got 14 PG All-Americans...

Finest in the Field: Class of 2026 | Class of 2027 | Class of 2028 These guys might just be entering high school, but they've certainly already made a name for themselves on the national circuit, especially with their abilities on the defensive side of things.  C: Xavier Rodriguez (Logansville, GA) Rodriguez is a polished defender with real arm strength behind the dish, while showcasing the ability to impact the baseball with authority to all fields evident by thirty of his sixty-five hits going for extra-bases including seven bombs. He handles high-level pitching extremely well, commands his staff and his offensive prowess makes him a true two-way asset. 1B: Cooper Knight (Buda, TX) Knight is a smooth operator at first base with plenty of range, fluidity and agility in his footwork around the bag. Add-in a rocket for an arm, the ability to change slots and to...

Best Game I Saw: The Dream NTL 18U vs. MBA Scout Team Murphy Jupiter always brings out the best, and we got fireworks from the jump. Turner Marshall gave The Dream an outstanding 4+ innings of work on the mound, holding a lethal MBA team at bay with Chance Dixon, Derrick Carter, and Ellis Appling providing an offensive spark out of the gate for the Georgia based boys. However, it was only a matter of time before the talent on the other side got going, as MBA erased a 3-run deficit in the 5th to take a 4-3 lead led by a Parker Loew HR. The Dream then took command again in the Top of the 6th, before MBA punched right back with a huge 5-run inning in the bottom half capped off by a clutch RBI single from Matthew Kerrigan, ending a wild sequence with tons of notable performances from two very competitive rosters. Best Tournament Performance I Saw: Surely someone has already brought this...
