Gage Wheaton is a 2023 RHP/OF with a 6-4 160 lb. frame from Penfield, NY who attends Northstar Christian Academy. Large frame with very long, lean build; ran 60 yard dash in 7.50 seconds. Primary pitcher, simple operation on the mound, shorter stride downhill, 3/4 slot with good whip to arm stroke, crossbody release, fastball worked 76-79 mph with solid life on the pitch, showed curveball with solid depth as well as cutter with short, late life, did a nice job of throwing strikes. Hits with short, compact stroke to the ball, will drift onto front side at contact, shows solid barrel skills, projects with strength. Worked out in the outfield, aggressive close to the ball with solid footwork, fields clean, clocked up to 81 mph on throws back to the infield. Very good student.
