Michael Farina is a 2023 SS/RHP with a 5-10 135 lb. frame from Hawthorn Woods, IL who attends Adlai E Stevenson. Medium frame with a lean build. Primary shortstop with clean footwork while ranging for and rounding the baseball. Plays through the baseball well with smooth glove actions at pick up. Maintains momentum towards the bag while working through exchange and released from a three-quarters arm slot. Throws produced accurate carry to the bag topping at 74 mph. Right handed hitter with a spread, balanced stance and simple front side trigger. Stays balanced throughout swing while employing a line drive barrel plane through extension. Looked to work the ball to the middle of the field while utilizing a high contact approach. Also pitched showing a side step to higher leg lift delivery. Works through balance quickly and lands in line with target. Released from a three-quarters arm slot producing occasional downhill tilt through the zone in the upper 70's, topped at 78 mph. Curveball had 11/5 shape with tighter spin and late depth in the upper 60's. Also showed a changeup offering that generated good sink to the bottom of the zone in the low 70's.
