Alex Zang is a 2021 C/ with a 5-7 180 lb. frame from Salt Lake City, UT who attends Judge Memorial Catholic. Medium frame with an athletic build and room to add strength without giving up much of the athleticism. Ran a 7.30 second 60-yard dash. Worked out defensively as a primary catcher. Receives out front and into longer exchanges. Quick and compact arm actions. Gains quick ground towards the bag with some explosiveness in the lower half. Throws create carry to the bag while staying mostly accurate topping out at 75 miles per hour and popping a 1.96 during workouts. Lefthanded hitter with a slightly open stance and high hand set. Utilizes a leg lift trigger for timing. Direct hand path on a line drive plane through the zone. Gets the barrel through and works contact out in front. Fluid swing with contact coming mostly to the pull side. Projects both at and behind the plate moving forward. Good student as well.
