Sean Elsee is a 2023 1B/LHP, OF with a 5-11 155 lb. frame from Santa Clarita, CA who attends William S. Hart HS. Sean shows an athletic build that is certain to continue to evolve and allow him to have the ability to project to the next level. His current skill set on the diamond, especially for a younger player, is exceptional. In addition to his commendable ability on the field, Sean is also an exemplary student. He ran a 7.77 60 yard dash. A primary 1B, Sean appears to be a natural around the bag. He shows quick and smooth footwork and his glove plays well. He transfers well and his 77 mph throws are firm and consistently on target. Big upside as a defender at 1B. Sean also took a turn in the OF where he showed solid, playable skill. He reads the ball off the bat well, positions quickly and plays through the fielding action with gathering momentum. His glove work is pretty pure and he transitions quickly. His 74 mph throws hold their plane and are routinely accurate. Sean also worked a little off the mound. He uses a classic LHP operation and incorporates a longer takeaway with an extended, long reach finish. He shows a lot of whip in his arm action. He is definitely a plus command and control guy. He pitches off his 71-74 mph active fastball that he works to the bottom half of the zone. His heater shows plus arm side run and sink and he works it to both edges well. His 61 mph CB shows tight spin and sharp late break and is a pitch that should continue to develop. His 65 mph cutter shows tight spin and late, quick, and sharp break. Outstanding feel for the cutter. His 65 mph change up is a great out pitch look against RHH. He throws the CH with FB arm quickness and it tumbles late. Highly developed feel for the CH. Sean has four sound pitches that could project well. When he hits a growth spurt, look out. At the plate, Sean is advanced swinger of the stick. He is balanced at the ready and has a simple load and trigger. His bat path is more inside-out...middle of the field to opposite way and he incorporates a flatter swing plane. He has noticeable strength in his hands. He flashed some raw power that should continue to evolve as he matures. Sean has the right idea about his game. He shows skill at more than one position and with the bat. His current ability projects to the next level, without question. With continued exposure to higher level competition and a dedicated effort in the weight room, Sean has a chance to play college ball quite successfully.
