Ethan Oneal is a 2020 RHP/OF with a 6-3 180 lb. frame from Las Vegas, NV who attends Liberty HS. Large frame with long limbs and wiry strength. Frame projects to support additional strength. Primary right handed pitcher with a simple side step to medium leg lift delivery. Stays balanced at gather and tends to land at a slightly closed position on front side. Compact arm circle at take back and displayed good arm quickness through extension from a mid three-quarters arm slot. Fastball jumped out of hand well creating heavy run to arm side in the low to mid 80's, topped at 85 miles per hour. Curveball created tight 12/6 shape with late depth in the low 70's. Also showed a very deceptive changeup with sinking action in the mid 70's. Displayed good feel for all three pitches and consistently kept hitters off balance. Also worked out defensively from the outfield showing clean footwork while traveling to the baseball. Clean glove actions at pick up and worked through exchange with developing fluidity. Released from a three-quarters slot producing solid carry to the bag at 86 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, open stance and reaching front side trigger. Shifts into contact with linear lower half actions. Deeper hand load and works to contact on a loose, extended path. Utilized a naturally lifted barrel plane and flashed present bat speed with strength when on time and squared. Developing feel for the barrel throughout the zone and produced best contact when staying balanced and working to the pull side gap. Named to the 2018 Sunshine West Showcase Top Prospect List. Good student as well.
