2018 Pitcher/Catcher Showcase
Shane Halligan is a 2020 C/ with a 5-10 160 lb. frame from Fort Dodge, IA who attends Fort Dodge HS. Medium frame with an athletic build with room to get more size and strength. Primary catcher with a slightly straddled stance. Has good hip flexion, staying low when receiving. Gains ground towards the base with a big, quick first step out front. Medium arm circle in back and has a quick arm action releasing from compact three-quarters slot. Keeps the ball low with accuracy to the bag. Throws topped out at 78 miles per hour and had a best workout pop of 2.19. Right handed hitter with an upright and slightly open stance. Utilizes a simple leg lift trigger at load. Starts with a high back elbow and drops hands at the beginning of load. Keeps the ball in the middle of the field and to the pull side. Gets his hands to contact and through the zone quickly with good extension. Swings the bat with intent and the ball really jumps off the barrel when squared up. Excellent student. Named to the 2018 Pitcher/Catcher Showcase Top Prospect List.
