Dylan Swanson is a 2024 SS/RHP/2B with a 5-8 150 lb. frame from Staten Island, NY who attends St. Joseph by the Sea. Compact, athletic looking frame with some lean muscle throughout and room to physically mature. Recorded a 5.10 second forty-yard dash time. Primary middle-infielder with a quick first step, clean funnel and plenty of lateral range to either side. Worked downhill through the baseball with fluidity and displayed the ability to change arm slots when necessary. Recorded accurate throws up to 80 mph across the diamond during drills. Secondary right-handed pitcher that showed extremely well throughout his outing. Worked from an abbreviated windup with slightly coiled leg lift and excellent lower half movements down the slope. Simple, repeatable operation with loads of present arm speed. Fastball worked in the low-80s for the duration of his outing with tons of life through the zone and topped out at 83 mph in this look. Raw spin rates in the 2400s allow for his fastball to play up in the zone and he showed impressive aptitude for spin with his abrupt, more traditional 12-6 shaped curveball. Showed ability to land it for strikes, while generating a ton of swings-and-misses with it. Tons of projection remaining. Right-handed hitter that hits from a balanced, even stance with a lower hand set and toe-tap trigger for timing. Simple stroke with rotational lower half mechanics and short, fairly direct swing path. Showed developing bat-to-ball skills that will continue to improve with proper swing adjustments and additional strength. Vast upside on the mound moving forward.Good Student.
