Joey Lawhorn is a 2018 1B/RHP with a 5-10 185 lb. frame from Harrison, OH who attends William Henry Harrison HS. Medium frame with strong, sturdy present build. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.88 seconds. Sets up to hit with hands set close to body, upright open stance, leg lift trigger, hands cocked back into load, repeats swing well, shows good barrel skills on line drive swing plane with good strength at contact. Middle field approach, showed good ability to drive the ball on a line. Worked out at 1st base, hands work well out front into clean funnel, good athleticism on turns and pivots, longer arm stroke, throws across the diamond clocked up to 75 mph. Pitched as well, upright delivery with good posture, controlled delivery with good balance, clean arm to three quarters arm slot, fastball worked 78-81 mph with some angle along with arm side life. Worked in curveball with 11/5 shape, very good break and depth, falls off the table. Also flashed modest feel for his changeup. Good student.
