Colton Hegwood is a 2021 MIF with a 5-11 170 lb. frame from Brandon, MS who attends Brandon. Medium athletic build with room to get stronger. Left handed hitter, hits from an open spread start and a high hand set up, gets on line and in position to hit on time, quick and compact swing with good looseness and extension through the ball, worked gap to gap with good carry on his line drives, consistent timing. 6.96 runner, used his speed well in the games. Has good footwork in the middle infield on defense, stays balanced well and can throw from multiple arm slots with good carry, plays well on the move. Also pitched, arm slot moves from high to low 3/4's and will drop in a submarine at times, changed speeds and slots on a fastball up to 81 mph, threw strikes with movement and was effective. Very good student, verbal commitment to Mississippi Gulf Coast CC. Named to the Fall Gulf Coast Showcase Top Prospect List.
