Giovanni Rojas is a 2019 C with a 5-7 155 lb. frame from Ft Lauderdale, FL who attends Charles W Flanagan HS. Medium frame with broad shoulder and an athletic build. Projects for additional strength with continue physical maturity. Ran a 7.69 sixty-yard dash. Primary catcher with a balanced set while setting up to receive. Gains ground well while working out of crouch with quick, fundamental footwork. Receives the baseball well with soft hands and works through transfer with clean actions. Flashed quality arm strength and generated good carry to second base. Best workout pop time of 2.09. Right handed hitter with a spread, even stance. Stays balanced through out with rotational lower half actions to contact. Compact, direct hand path with a naturally lifted swing plane through extension. Looks to lift while swinging with intent to drive the baseball through the outfield gaps. Created more consistent barrel control and squared up contact more often toward the end of the round. Also pitched showing a deliberate side step delivery. Stays tall on back side and utilized lower half while driving to the plate. Released from a three-quarters arm slot with a fastball offering that flashed slight cutting action, topped at 73 miles per hour. Also flashed a curveball with proper shape and depth to the bottom of the zone. Consistently filled the strike zone and effectively kept hitter off balance.
