Jackson Cloyd is a 2019 OF/1B/RHP with a 6-2 215 lb. frame from Newport Beach, CA who attends Orange County Lutheran HS. Large frame with long limbs and a lean, athletic build. Shows wiry strength throughout with projects for more with continued physical maturity. Ran a 7.28 sixty yard dash. Primary outfielder with deliberate footwork while closing to the baseball. Clean glove actions while funneling the baseball and working through exchange. Long arm action at release that created some uphill carry to the bag, topped at 82 mph. Also worked out defensively from first base showing some range to each side with smooth feet while setting up around the bag to receive throws. Squared up baseball well while funneling out front with clean exchanges while working into release. Right handed hitter with a balanced stance. Direct, compact path to contact that generated a solid line drive plane through extension. Flashed good power to the gaps that showed tight back spin and good carry when squared. Shows the barrel and hand skills to shoot the baseball to opposite field at times. Also pitched employing a simple side step delivery to high leg kick. Stays tall on back side before driving downhill to the plate with an extended stride. Creates a long arm swing back at separation and releases from an over top arm slot. Fastball had occasional arm side run with sinking action in the mid to upper 70's, topped at 78 mph. Flashed a curveball with softer spin and good depth down in the zone. Curveball had sharper, late depth when maintaining arm speed through finish. Very good student. Tools will continue to develop with physical maturity and repetition.
