Patrick Leighton is a 2019 RHP/1B, OF with a 6-0 160 lb. frame from Williamstown, NJ who attends Williamstown High School. Medium, square shouldered frame and a lean, projectable build with room to fill throughout moving forward. Primary righthanded pitcher, works with a full arm action through the back side before getting to a three-quarters release point. Lands closed with strike foot but gets over front side and creates nice angle on fastball; topped out at 80 mph and incorporates lower half well with heavy life to ball and occasional life. Can challenge up in the zone, some effort at release; shows comfort in throwing slider slurve break at 68 mph. Similar full arm action through the back side, glove plays well out front at the ball, takes long strides to the ball and can continue to incorporate lower half into release. Righthanded hitter, begins with a slightly open and spread stance in the box. Contact oriented approach at the plate with a simple shift through lower half; full swing path and incorporates hands well while working all fields with line drive contact. Very good student.
