Conner Matzuga is a 2019 RHP/OF with a 6-2 160 lb. frame from Wake Forest, NC who attends Heritage High School. Large frame, lean, slender build, athleticism, and room to continue to fill out physically. Primary right handed pitcher, created good deception, alternated arm slots from submarine to low three quarter, long, loose arm action, online delivery, and good arm speed. Started with a higher leg raise past belt and kept hitters off balance. Showed best when utilizing the lower three quarter arm slot. Fastball worked 81-84 mph with arm side life and sink to the lower third. Worked well down in the zone and generated weak contact. Showed a slider with 10/5 shape and depth from side to side. Secondary outfielder, showed a long arm action, quick first step, generated carry out of the hand with arm strength up to 80 mph. At the plate, started with a narrow base, tall stance, high hand set, high back elbow, and a quick leg lift timing mechanism. Showed quick hands through the zone with a line drive swing plane. Generated extension with a longer swing at present. Timing oriented swing with best contact coming up the middle of the field. Good student. Named to Top Prospect List.
