Jake McKenna is a 2017 RHP/1B with a 6-4 230 lb. frame from Palos Verdes Estates, CA who attends Palos Verdes Peninsula. Extra-large frame with outstanding size and strength throughout body. Ran 60 yard dash in 7.43 seconds. Primary pitcher, shows longer arm action with smoothness to three quarters slot with solid arm speed. Closed off at balance point, deliberate delivery. Fastball worked 77-80 MPH, pauses at balance point, could generate better flow of delivery without exaggerated pause. Showed CB and CH to round out arsenal. CB worked with 11/5 shape and solid break; CH showed good arm speed and slight fade. Hits with wrapped hands into load, pinches front knee and front elbow out of leg lift trigger, shows solid balance throughout. Short to ball with solid strength at contact, incomplete shift, shows ability to drive ball on a line to all fields. Worked out at 1B, good athleticism for position, fields cleanly and shows good arm strength up to 82 MPH. Very good student.
