Christopher Lopez is a 2018 OF/2B with a 5-7 165 lb. frame from Santa Ana, CA who attends Tustin. Compact frame with a lean, athletic build and wiry strength. Ran a 6.96 sixty-yard dash. Primary outfielder with aggressive footwork while closing to and working through the baseball. Worked through pick up and exchange with fluidity while releasing from a three-quarters slot. Throws generated stiff, accurate carry to the bag topping at 88 miles per hour. Also worked out defensively from the infield showing active, athletic footwork while surrounding the baseball. Flashed solid range to each side with the ability to throw while on the run. Baseball came out of hand quickly from a mid three-quarters arm slot topping at 83 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with a slightly crouched, even stance. Shifts into contact well with linear lower half actions. Simple, direct path to baseball with a line drive barrel plane through extension. Showed present bat speed with the ability to control the barrel throughout the hitting zone. Drove the baseball to the middle of the field and pull side gap generating consistent hard contact off the barrel. Good student. Named to the 2017 California Uncommitted Showcase, Top Prospect List.
