Colin Jones is a 2020 C/RHP/SS with a 6-0 175 lb. frame from Blythewood, SC who attends Blythewood HS. Large, projectable build, square shoudlers, shows present strength to frame and has additional room to fill out moving forward. Ran a 7.70 60-yard dash. Primary catcher, receives the ball out front with a narrower set behind the plate, gets upright at release, receives the ball well, accurate throws down to second base, arm strength will continue to develop with additional lower half involved. Also pitched, graded out higher on the mound in this look. Short rock step moving into delivery, high leg kick just above waist, slight curl at top of balance point before striding on line with lower half, lands slightly closed off with strike foot. Clears lower half well, weight occasionally finishes to first base side. Nice rhythm and tempo to delivery, works to a three-quarters arm slot and topped out at 81 mph, nice life to pitch and gets on hitters quickly while creating occasional plane to the bottom of zone. Works to both sides of plate, curveball showed 10-4 shape with short depth at 69 mph, mixed well and filled zone. Righthanded hitter, begins with an upright and open stance, high back elbow in the box. Upper body swing and gets to front side early at times, works the middle of the field with approach. Line drive swing plane through the zone, looks to turn on the ball and shows ability to work to the opposite field. Very good student.
