Saul Hernandez is a 2018 3B/RHP/1B with a 6-0 215 lb. frame from Galveston, TX who attends Ball HS. Large frame with broad shoulders and a strong build. Primary third baseman with aggressive footwork while closing to and surrounding the baseball. One handed funnels from a deeper position and worked through ex change with developing fluidity. Released from a three-quarters slot produced some on line carry to the bag topping at 73 miles per hour. Right handed hitter with an upright, open stance and simple front side trigger. Created some linear shift into contact with lower half. Direct hand path to baseball with a line drive plane through extension. Created some lift when connecting with baseball out front. Flashed some bat speed with strength at contact and showed the barrel control to work to all fields when maintaining balanced. Also pitched utilizing a simple side step to medium leg lift. Stays balanced at gather and works to the plate with tall and fall actions. Loose arm circle and released from a low to mid three-quarters arm slot. Fastball created occasional run to arm side in the low 70's, topped at 74 miles per hour. Also flashed a slider offering that had loose spin with some sweep to glove side in the mid 60's. Good student as well.
