Juan Hernandez is a 2017 OF/SS with a 5-10 195 lb. frame from Long Beach, CA who attends Long Beach Poly. Medium-large frame with excellent present build throughout body, solid athleticism throughout as well. Shows legitimate strength and bat speed at the plate, generating good gap-to-gap power at present with projection for more moving forward. Good overall potential offensively, added extension through contact could be beneficial to his hitting tools long term. Quality 3B projection defensively, shows good actions fielding the ball with solid 1 step quickness side to side, overhand release with some extension, clocking at 76 MPH on accurate throws. Gets rid of the ball quickly in the OF with solid actions, with arm strength topping at 78 MPH. Pitched as well, with short arm action up to overtop slot. Very balanced delivery, FB worked 71-74 with some tailing life and heaviness. Fills up the zone well. Very good student.
