2005 Midwest Top Prospect Showcase
Jon Rondeau is a 5-9, 185 lb senior left handed pitcher from Canada. Rondeau is one of our favorite players and one of the first things we did when the Ontario Blue Jays submitted their showcase roster was to check if Rondeau was on it. He is an extremely polished pitcher who gets outs so quickly that he can put an event ahead of schedule all by himself. We've joked about him pitching 7 innings at a showcase. Rondeau's fastball only touches 80 mph but he spots it with precision and his off speed stuff makes it look much harder. Rondeau's breaking ball is a big "roundhouse" curveball at 68 mph. His go to pitch is a 70-72 mph change up that he gets excellent arm speed on. Rondeau pays no attention to the count and will throw any pitch on any count, but he's almost always ahead. Rondeau is also a talented defensive player at both first base and at a corner outfield spot and swings the bat with authority. Overlook the body and overlook the radar gun! This young man can get outs for just about any college program in the country.
