Jim LaTorre is a 6'1" 180 pound 2006 first baseman, right handed pitcher, and infielder from Lakeland, Florida who attends Bartow High School. He has a medium athletic body who is nice and loose. Jim has soft hands defensively and moves very well around the bag. He showed a strong arm during the workout by throwing 80 mph across the diamond from first base. LaTorre runs well for his size, running a 7.00 60. At the plate, he has a quick bat and a nice clean stroke. He showed good raw power and has more to come. Jim pitched from a low 3/4 arm slot with a loose arm. He has above average command and a very efficient delivery. His fastball topped out at 80 mph but he will throw much harder once he incorporates his body more. His curveball was a very good pitch for him at 66 mph with 11/5 rotation. His change up was at 71 mph and has the makings of being a quality pitch. Jim is a good student as well.
