Smith is a tall, lean 6-6 right hander with a lot more arm strength than he’s showing right now. Smith has a drifting "tall and fall" delivery that incorporates very little of his torso and lower body and leaves his long, whippy arm lagging behind. Smith’s fastball was 81-84 mph for us but there’s plenty more velocity if he can make some adjustments. Smith’s 66 mph curveball doesn’t get much spin with his arm being late. An interesting option for a secondary pitch might be a split finger, as Smith has the ideal release point for this pitch. Brynson has a chance to develop into a very good draft pick coming out of college.
