2003 Sunshine West Showcase
One of the youngest players in the showcase, Rover is a catcher with a very thin frame that we think will end up being a real good one. He showed a 2.18 pop time with good catch and throw mechanics, only lacking the arm strength of the older players. He can receive with ease and it looks like it will be a good position for him. He was not fully capable of handling a wood bat versus good pitching but did show us examples of what is to come. He has a good swing and hits the ball to thecpull side the best right now. His approach is outstanding. He has a sharp eye and stayed right in on several very hard biting curveballs on the inner half. He showed the ability to stay inside the ball and with added strength it might end up being a hard hitting catcher that we think will be a good prospect. Good student.
