2004 South Top Prospect Showcase
Tim Heath is a 2005 third baseman/pitcher from Flower Mound, TX, with some good present strength and good baseball skills. His best raw tool right now is probably his arm strength. Heath made several strong throws across the diamond, and also showed good defensive actions at 3B. He played defense confidently with good instincts. Heath also had a chance to throw off the mound in his team’s last game and was 84-85 mph with his fastball even after two days of steady showcase work. Heath’s 74 mph curveball was a quality pitch, too. He should be able to pitch as well as play. At the plate, Heath’s present strength helps him generate some very good bat speed. He’s an aggressive hitter who attacks early in the count and will dive into a ball looking to hit it to right centerfield. Heath did show the ability to turn on the ball as well, knocking a nice hard double into the left field corner. This is a good player who can play at the high college level. His only weakness is running speed, but he shows quickness and instincts. Timothy is a very good student.
