2024 Top Prospects

Jake Valenzuela  SS - 2024 - Riverside, CA
Mississippi Valley State

Valenzuela has a smooth delivery that explodes at release, allowing his fastball to top out at 86 mph. His arm is very lively for his age and lives in the zone on the mound, making it very difficult on opposing hitters. He shows an immense amount of athleticism, both on the mound and in the field, utilizing a shorter arm stroke in the field to deliver the ball accurately and on time.

Donovan Freed  1B - 2024 - Los Gatos, CA

Freed is a presently strong athlete for his age with a frame that projects a lot of power as he continues to develop. He uses his strength to lift balls over outfielders heads, and showed the ability to make adjustments as needed at the plate.

Fernando Rios  1B - 2024 - Whittier, CA

Rios went right after hitters, attacking them with his fastball that worked up to 80 mph. He has a large frame that projects for a lot of strength and velocity on the mound as he continues to develop. He also does a nice job of working through balls while playing the field.


2025 Top Prospects

Jason Gerfers  RHP - 2025 - Calimesa, CA
Arizona State

Gerfers has a loose, whippy arm and delivers from a low 3/4 arm slot which allows him to generate a lot of run with his fastball that was in the low to mid-80's. He worked this fastball to both sides of the plate, generating a lot of outs. Offensively, he uses a high leg kick for timing and generates a lot of bat speed, resulting in loud contact. He has a projectable frame and will continue to impress as he develops.

Manuel Dorantes  3B - 2025 - Castroville, CA
California

Dorantes possess a large frame with present strength that he was able to use to work up to 81 mph with his fastball on the mound. He has a clean motion and does a nice job of hiding the ball, resulting in hitters being consistently late. He can also handle the bat well, utilizing a short path that gets on plane and easily generates power.

Jaxon Griffiths  OF - 2025 - Visalia, CA

Griffiths handles the bat well, showing good barrel control while making the most out of his lower half. He does a nice job of being on time and catching balls out in front of the plate, allowing him to hit balls hard to all parts of the field. Defensively, he shows good quickness with both his hands and feet while also displaying good feel with the glove.

Michael Velardez  SS - 2025 - Menifee, CA

Velardez has a balanced delivery on the mound that allows him to repeat his delivery and throw consistent strikes. His best pitch is his curveball, which is very advanced for his age with 12-6 shape and a lot of depth. He worked his fastball up to 78 mph that had some cutting actions at times.

Marc Emmerman  SS - 2025 - Torrance, CA
San Diego State

Emmerman is a quick athlete that moves well to both sides defensively. He is twitchy and makes all the plays look easy. At the plate he has a technically sound swing that allows him to find barrels consistently. The ball jumps off his bat and the hard contact will certainly continue as he continues to grow and add strength.

Marian is a twitchy athlete that displayed advanced ability in moving around the infield. He has smooth actions and good range to pair with quick hands and a strong arm. He carries this athleticism to the plate, displaying good pop off the bat and a swing that is full of intent.
