Rookie Davis is off to a very impressive start to the 2011 season. Opponents understandably seem to want no part of him at the plate, as he has walked in half of his plate appearances (28 PA, 14 BB) this year. He has 3 HRs in 14 ABs thus far. But many like him more as a pitcher, and his performance last night shows why.
Davis threw a no-hitter against Topsail in a 2-0 win. An area scout who saw the outing says that Davis' fastball sat 91-93 MPH last night. He has been up to 94 at last year's East Coast Pro Showcase, and 92 at the WWBA World Championship in Jupiter.
