2024 Puerto Rico National Showcases Qualifier (05/17/2024 - 05/18/2024)

4-Red vs. 5-Royal Game Highlights
5/19/2024 12:11:36 AM

Jehiel Hernández (2027 C, Cabo Rojo, PR) had the game's first solid barrel with an LD single right back up the box. Simple/easy swing operation where the hands throw the bat on a clean through the middle.

Alan Hernandez Rodriguez (2026 SS, Caguas, PR) collected two hits this game. The first was a nice piece of 2K hitting where he shortened up and served an LD to right. His second barrel was louder where he turned on an inside fastball and drove it down the LF line showing some impact.

Justin Garcia-Hernandez (2025 OF, Chicago, IL) was one of the BP power standouts and showed it in-game on Saturday with a hard shot back up the box that probably had one of the higher EVs of the weekend.

Angel Santos (2025 SS, Ceiba, PR) crushed a fastball over the LF's head for a standup double. Swing works where he rotates hard/fast, helping create some sneaky bat speed and power.

Kaniel Rosado (2025 LHP, Casselberry, FL) got the start for Team Red and showed some strong stuff from the left side. Ran it up to 89 early with the FB, living in the mid 80s with it that showed quality ride/run and producing several in-zone whiffs. Also mixed in a SL that varied in shape from short/depth to larger/slurvy.

Nelson Molina (2026 C, Arecibo, PR) showed an easy/natural opposite field approach where he went with the outside fastball and drove it into right on a line for a single.

Fauzi F Nofal (2025 SS, Toa Alta, PR) was a bit out front on a breaking ball but was able to maintain enough balance while getting extending with his hands/barrel to drive it down the left field line for a double.

Jeremy Morales Flores (2025 OF, Bayamon, PR) turned hard on an inside FB and grounded into right for an RBI single. Really easy/smooth LH stroke that shows consistent balance.

Diego Gabriel Guerrero Maymi (2025 OF, San Juan, PR) turned on a fastball for a LD single to left late in the game. Shows a simple lower half trigger that allows for balance and the hands to work free and easy.

Miguel Maldonado (2025 SS, Cataño, PR) crushed a middle-middle FB over the RF's head the one hopped the RF wall showcasing that pullside power. Athleticism and strength stood out all weekend.

Christopher Martinez (2025 3B, Humacao, PR) was a two-way standout in the weekend finale. At the plate, he turned on an 85 mph FB for a LD single to left. Then he jumped on the mound and threw two shutout innings where he showed a strong 3-pitch mix. FB showed good/natural run in the low-mid 80s. He induced some buckled takes off a larger mid 60s breaker and flashed a fading low 70s CH as well.

John A Lopez Santana (2025 OF, Arroyo, PR) had one of the more impressive singular swings of the weekend where he stayed behind a low-in FB, kept the hands in tight and drove it through the middle of the field for a LD single.

Victor Merced (2026 3B, Caguas, PR) top spun a really hard line drive down the left line for a standup double.
