Mets sign 12th-rdr, RHP Robert Whalen

The New York Mets have signed talented Florida prospect and 12th-round pick, right-handed pitcher Robert Whalen for $100,000.

Whalen was one of the nation's elite prospects as a high school senior. He was ranked No. 133 nationally by PG, No. 23 in the State of Florida and No. 45 at his position on the national stage.

Whalen competed in PG WWBA World Championship last summer for the FTB Mizuno/Cardinals Scout Team.
