The Atlanta Braves have signed second-round pick and University of Georgia left-handed pitcher
Alex Wood for $700,000. The pick value for his slot, No. 85 overall, is $583,000.
Wood is a talented left-hander with much upside. This past season for the Bulldogs, he consistently sat in the mid-to-upper 90s with his fastball. He finished the campaign with a 2.73 ERA in 102 1/3 innings of work. He also struck out 100 and walked 21, while teams hit him at just a .253 clip.
