Tampa Jesuit, (FL), Harvard Westlake (CA), and Olympia (FL) hold onto the top three spots for the fourth straight week, as Florida playoffs are well underway with California right around the corner.
The only movement in the top five comes from Southern California where a two game split between Mater Dei and Orange Lutheran last week put Orange Lutheran in the driver’s seat with a one game lead in the Trinity League race with four games remaining. Orange Lutheran moves up to No. 7, while Mater Dei slips to No. 8. Bishop Gorman (NV) moves into the vacated spot in the top five, thanks in large part to a herculean effort at the plate by star 3B/RHP Joey Gallo (who is hitting .554/.656/1.122 on the year).
In another matchup between ranked SoCal teams, Cypress moves up to No. 22 after knocking off then No. 10 Lakewood (who falls to No. 23 after a 1-2 week). No. 20 Cathedral Catholic has continued their recent hot streak, having extended their winning streak to 10 games, and looks to be the firmly established favorite in San Diego County.
Parkview (GA) beat Columbus (GA) to continue the year-long battle as the top team in Georgia. The game was a tune-up for Georgia playoffs which start on Friday. Columbus is the favorite to win their 3rd straight AAA title while Parkview is the AAAAA favorite.
The postseason is underway in several states, including Texas, where The Woodlands is coming in on fire. The No. 15 ranked Highlanders have won 11 straight, with four of the past five coming by double digit margins.
Four new teams enter the rankings. No. 46 JW North (CA), No. 47 St. Laurence (IL), No. 49 Arlington Martin (TX), and No. 50 Lake Central (IN).
