16U BCS Rolls into Fort Myers

The 21st annual 16U BCS National Championship returns to Fort Myers, Florida from July 23-27, bringing together many of the nation’s top 2028 graduates. The tournament features 44 teams, including six nationally ranked clubs, competing for a national title across five days of high-level competition.

Year after year, the event has served as a proving ground for elite talent. Defending champion Showtime Select National 16U returns after capturing last year’s championship, while a talented field from across the country will look to add its name to the event’s prestigious history.



One of the premier prospects in the field, shortstop Gabriel Coupet enters as the highest-ranked player in attendance, checking in at No. 49 overall in the Class of 2028 and No. 8 player in Florida. The Boynton Beach, Fla., native has established himself as one of the country’s most talented players, pairing advanced defensive skills with a powerful offensive approach.

Coupet’s athleticism is highlighted by a 6.50-second 60-yard dash, 90 mph infield velocity and a 94 mph exit velocity.

This season, he has remained one of the most productive hitters in the field, batting .375 with a 1.068 OPS, 22 RBIs, six doubles, two triples, two home runs and 11 stolen bases in 34 games. As the top-ranked player in the tournament, Coupet will be a key name to watch while leading XE9 Scout Team 2028, currently ranked No. 54 nationally.

The defending champions will be led by one of the nation’s top arms in No. 94-ranked right-handed pitcher Blake Huston, the No. 2 right-handed pitcher in Connecticut’s 2028 class. Representing Showtime Select National 16U, which enters the event ranked No. 15 nationally, Huston combines size, athleticism and two-way ability.

The 6-foot-4, 210-pound prospect has been up to 90 mph on the mound while also showcasing significant power at the plate, highlighted by a 98 mph exit velocity. On the mound this season, Huston has logged 12.2 innings across five appearances, striking out 13 batters.

Another standout on Showtime Select National’s talented roster is No. 150-ranked Dylan Weinstein, the No. 6 overall prospect in New York. Hailing from Levittown, N.Y., Weinstein’s power, athleticism and run-producing ability has consistently made him one of the team’s top offensive threats.

Weinstein has enjoyed an impressive season at the plate, slashing .360/.388/.590 with a .978 OPS across 42 games. He has totaled 36 hits, five home runs, 44 RBIs, 23 runs scored and 10 stolen bases. Beyond his offensive production, the right-hander brings a 99 mph exit velocity, 89 mph outfield velocity and a 6.95-second 60-yard dash.

No. 128-ranked outfielder Trent O'Malley headlines Showtime Spotlight 16U’s roster. The Great Falls, Va., native is the No. 4 prospect and No. 1 outfielder in Virginia. O’Malley has long been

recognized as one of the country’s top young talents, earning invitations to both the 12U and 13U Perfect Game Select Festivals.

A dynamic and projectable athlete, O’Malley has been up to 90 mph on the mound and continues to impact the game with his speed and defensive ability in the outfield. While limited to eight games this season, he has reached base at a .500 clip, posting an .885 OPS with seven runs scored.

One of the top catchers in the country, Ander Elorriaga, enters the tournament as the No. 151 overall prospect in the Class of 2028. The Coral Springs, Fla., native is ranked as the No. 12 catcher nationally and No. 3 catcher in Florida, giving the Original Florida Pokers 2028 National a high-end talent to build around.

Elorriaga has put together an outstanding offensive season, slashing .609/.633/.957 with an impressive 1.590 OPS through 10 games. He has collected 14 hits, including five doubles and a home run, while driving in eight RBIs and scoring five runs. His combination of consistent contact and extra-base power has made him one of the most productive hitters in the tournament field.

SBA Bolts Florida 2028 National will be led by No. 167-ranked shortstop Ian Jansen and No. 174-ranked left-handed pitcher Nathan Hazard.

Jansen has been one of the most productive hitters in the field this season, slashing .400/.500/.909 for a 1.409 OPS through 23 games. The 6-foot-4 shortstop has totaled 22 hits, including five home runs, seven doubles and three triples while driving in 21 RBIs, scoring 27 runs and stealing 13 bases. He also brings strong tools to the field with a 95 mph exit velocity, 89 mph infield velocity and a 6.94-second 60-yard dash.

Hazard has been one of the most dominant pitchers in the field this season, posting a 2.41 ERA and 1.10 WHIP over 29 innings. The 6-foot-5 left-hander has struck out 48 batters while holding opponents to a .143 batting average, giving SBA Bolts a dependable arm heading into the tournament.

The tournament concludes with the championship game at 10:15 a.m. Monday at JetBlue Park, where one team will cap five days of competition by claiming the 16U BCS National Championship.

With six nationally ranked teams and some of the country’s top 2028 talent in attendance, another competitive week of baseball is set to unfold in Southwest Florida.

Pokers Rally to Capture 16U BCS Title A hot afternoon at JetBlue Stadium in Fort Myers, Florida ended in a 9-1 victory for the Original Florida Pokers 2028 National, defeating SBA Bolts Florida 2028 National on Monday to capture the 16U BCS National Championship. A pitchers’ duel kept the game scoreless through four innings before the Pokers broke it open with a five-run fifth inning. The title marked the Pokers’ second 16U BCS Championship, adding to the championship they won in 2022.
