East Cobb's Matthew Sharman is the No. 4-ranked right-handed pitcher in the class of 2026, and his performance in this weekend’s Southeast Memorial Day Classic is proof of that.

On May 26, in an 8-0 victory against the 5 Star West 16U team, Sharman was on the mound for the Astros 15U squad. Through five innings, he threw a no-hitter striking out 10 of 5 Star West's batters, and walking none.

“It always feels good to just go out and play my best,” Sharman said before the Astros game Saturday afternoon. “I mean I just go out there and create God’s image on the mound. That's just my goal, to just play good and always have fun.”

In their game Saturday, despite pitching the day prior, Sharman still played defensively for the Astros at first base. He also had success at the plate going 2-for-2 with two RBI and one run scored.

The rising high school sophomore and University of Georgia commit accepted his offer to join the Bulldogs in August of 2022 and is anticipated to join the team in the Spring of 2027.

“It's always been a dream for me to go (play) SEC baseball. I love the school and love the campus,” Sharman said about UGA. “I just loved everything about it.”

“It just felt like home," Sharman said. “It felt like there wasn't a better place for me. It's close to home and I’ve just always loved Georgia and it's always been a dream for me. The program is great and as I said SEC baseball, there's nothing like it.”

So far this year, Sharman has collected a few honors; Second-Team All Region representing Etowah High School, High Honorable mention from PG and Rawlings. And in last weekend's 16U PG Greater Atlanta Open, Sharman and the Astros clinched the tournament title, and Sharman was named the MVPitcher of the weekend.

“I have to stay healthy, make the right decisions and always try to get better in everything I do and really take my reps in the gym. And when I throw, just take everything really seriously.”

The Astros now await bracket play for the Southeast Memorial Day Classic.

“Always want a win," Sharman said. "It's more about the team than me. It's a team game. I just want to go out here, win baseball games and have fun.”
