Scouting Highlight
Anytime you go to watch Team Georgia take the fields, there's a good chance you're watching at least a handful of next-level prospects at any given moment as Chris McRaney has done an excellent job over the years of assembling and developing talent, as the impressive resume below speaks to. Despite this moment happening more than 4 years ago now, it's one that I still remember vividly as top-ranked Jerrion Ealy came to the plate with the game on the line in the Round of 64 during the 2017 16U WWBA World Championship. Already established as a double plus runner with game changing tools, from that foot speed to his strength and overall bat speed, the opposition had no choice but to pitch to Ealy given the extra-inning tie break rules in which the bases are loaded with one out. Following a leadoff walk and the game tied, the now Ole Miss running back did what you expect big-time players to do and that was send his team off with a victory onto the next round, barreling a pitch back up the middle which registered 103 mph off of the barrel. While we could continue to mention highlights from over the years, this is one that immediately jumped as it was an elite level talent doing what you'd expect him to do when his team needed him the most. -Jheremy Brown

Program History

"The program started in 2005 out of Chastain Park in Atlanta as the Chastain Bulls. That team ended up being ranked No. 3 in the country and won 4 out of 5 games that season against the 14U East Cobb Astros, including a walk-off grand slam in the first game in program history off future 2009 1st round and No. 3 overall pick, Donovan Tate. The owner of DP 643, Danny Pralgo, was the head coach of that East Cobb Astros team (As a side note, I have a lot of respect for Coach Pralgo, as he has and his team at 643 have done it the right way). I only say that as we started a tradition of winning at a high level right out of the gates." -Chris McRaney

Team GA later evolved to multiple teams by 2008 with baseball, and then in 2012 TGSA - Team GA Softball Academy - was formed. Currently, Team GA has a total of 35 teams. This includes Team GA Baseball Academy, Team GA Softball Academy and VELO Baseball Club based out of Southaven, Miss., which was formed 2020.

The mission of Team GA is that through the teachings of the game of baseball, a commitment to discipline, honesty and integrity, TGBA is committed to enhancing the overall character development of our athletes in the most important game - “The Game of Life” - while also providing our players a positive environment and opportunity to develop into high-level athletes

Every year since 2005, program owner Chris McRaney has coached a team in the 15U-17U age groups. In PG WWBA events, his teams have given up double-digit runs only 3 times from 2005-2021, over 800 games played during that time. Our organization from Day 1 has been defined by pitching and defense as you will see below.

Logan Tanner (Mississippi State) and Cade Smith (Mississippi State) are the only players in Perfect Game history to win all three of these prestigious PG events: PG 16U World Series, PG 17U WWBA and PG 18U WWBA
