101. Braden Montgomery, OF/RHP, Madison Central HS

College Commitment: Stanford

With the jury still out on where Montgomery will end up in the long run, he still shows upside on both sides of the ball. Offensively the switch-hit tool is good enough to potentially stick long term although the left side shows the more developed power as he had big showings across the summer circuit a year ago and continued that in an impressive spring showing. In the outfield the projection would be right field long term as the speed and the plus arm strength will fit nicely in the corner. On the mound the fastball has the ability to get into the mid-90s topping out at 94 mph with plane to the bottom of the zone. The concern on the mound comes with the lack of secondary offerings, although in a college situation a closing role could still be a possibility with the chance to further develop the offerings as a long term backup plan. The secondary concerns are what ultimately lead the crowd to lean more toward the ability with the bat, specifically from the left side as a power-hitting corner outfielder.
